Because of your generosity to Awaken, Traders Point Christian Church can give our 17-year-old Northwest location a much-needed facelift.
“The building is well-loved and needs to be refreshed in a big way,” Senior Operations Lead Brian Eversman said.
Some of the projects underway are highly visible – like painting the exterior of the building – and others are unseen, like updating our WIFI.
When we moved into this building back in 2007, we didn't expect it to become the hub for our other five locations. But as both our church and facilities have grown, our Northwest location has transformed into our main broadcast center. Now, thanks to technology, we can share our weekend gatherings with thousands of people. This year, we've been able to reach more people with our weekly gospel message outside the broadcast location than inside it.
When we first moved in the Northwest building back in April 2007, we welcomed 2,377 people on our opening day. To give you some context, this year we see an average of 4,800 people coming through our doors each Sunday.
If you've been with us for a while, you might remember that we quickly realized our kids' space wasn't big enough to accommodate the number of families attending services in the auditorium. So, in 2012, we renovated the current kids' space and park, which now serves thousands of families every weekend. Over the past year, our indoor playground has hosted over 100,000 guests, and 671 of those people have become part of our church.
In more recent years, going multisite in 2016 and dealing with COVID taught us how crucial it was to upgrade our technology to meet the growing demand beyond just one location. Our digital reach has expanded significantly, so our technology has had to keep up.
Here are some of the projects we're working on to support our Traders Point locations and community:
- Exterior painting
- Coffee bar renovation
- Restroom renovation
- Technology infrastructure updates in the auditorium and kids space
These projects are just one of many ways we continue to Revive the City.
