Reflect

As Moses spoke these words to the Israelites, he called to mind the miracles God had done in their sight. God rescued them from slavery in Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and sustained them through 40 years in the wilderness. Through Moses’ words, God revealed more of Himself and called His people to be like Him.

One characteristic emphasized throughout Scripture is God’s justice for widows and orphans. Both in the ancient Middle East and many places today, women and children are among the most vulnerable in society. Children need protection and provision, and one of the ways God ensures justice is through His people. He can use us to care for others, whether through our time, talents, or treasures, and as we serve Him, we show the world more of His love.

As you read God’s Word this week, you’ll also learn about some of the ways you can take part in His work in the city and around the world. There are opportunities all around to pray for and serve the most vulnerable, the ones who need to experience the hope that Jesus brings.

Respond

One of the ways we feel called to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children is through our Foster and Adoption Ministry. Spend some time learning more about it at https://tpcc.org/fam. As you read about the ministry, pray for the families and individuals who are serving on the front lines, and ask God if He might be calling you to step into a new serving opportunity this week.
