God's Patience

Read 2 Peter 3:9 in your Bible or through the link provided.

Why is God patient with us?

What is repentance?

What do you think Peter meant when he said "slowness”?

In this verse, Peter wanted to clarify something about God's character for his readers. When he said "promise," he referred to Jesus' return and the final judgment of sin. The word "destroyed" means spending eternity away from God, and "repentance" means admitting sins and acknowledging a need for God's grace.

God kindness is demonstrated in his slowness. His slowness to bring judgement. His desire for all to come to salvation. He is giving you time to come to understand the fullness of a life with Him. Romans 2:4 says, “Don’t you see how wonderfully kind and tolerant and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?”

God's patience is available to all, whether you've already received it or are waiting for it. Regardless of your situation, know that you are valuable to God and worth His slowness. He patiently waits for you to turn to Him, and He wants what's best for you. Take comfort in knowing that no matter what you are holding onto or need to confess, you can always bring it to Him.

Pause for a moment and examine your heart. Is there something holding you back from giving your all to God? Is there a sin you need to repent of? Ask God to remind you of His grace and help you see the next step you need to take to grow closer to Him.
